The Year 5 children (left) are investigating polyhedron nets - with great success. The Year 6s (right) are constructing a tetrahedron using art straws. As well as investigating the properties of shape they are learning about co-operation!
These three pictures show a group of Year 6 pupils working on an ambitious project to make large 3D shapes. The mathematical vocabulary used during this activity is very impressive. The children enjoy this method of investigative learning.
Task:
Using 12 equal length bamboo canes, how many different shapes can you make?
(You may use all or some of the canes)
These Year 2 children have estimated the length of classroom objects in cm and are now measuring the lengths using metre sticks.
