The School Library will shortly be launching an initiative to support the founding of The First National Children’s Library of Albania. Incredibly, this will be the first ever lending library in Albania.

Most people will be familiar with the BBC pictures depicting the circumstances of Albania’s orphaned children and the emergency aid that was provided for them. Now, in an effort to move on, the British charity, Task Force Albania, wants to provide an educational resource for the nation’s children and is seeking help from schools across Britain. The charity’s key fundraising idea is that each pupil brings a book into school with a pound coin. The pounds will go towards building the Children’s Library and the books will help fill the shelves!

Why not dig out an old book that you have read, enjoyed and would not mind parting with for a good cause? You can donate as many books/ pounds as you wish!

Collection points will be set up in the Upper and Lower School Libraries from Monday 26th January.
