AIMS OF KING EDWARD SCHOOL

To provide a welcoming, friendly environment in which children will feel happy, secure and motivated to learn.

Through a broad and varied curriculum, to provide children with the knowledge and skills they will need in tomorrow’s world.

By the setting of high, though achievable targets, encourage children to perform to the best of abilities in all areas of school life.

To help children learn respect for themselves and other people, to promote sympathy for and understanding of wider and differing environments, to provide equal opportunities for all, regardless of gender, race, religion or any other factor.

To develop partnership with parents in the education of their children, through mutual support, consultation and exchange of information.

To encourage children to develop to their full potential through a structured programme of learning, following the guidelines of 5-14.

To treat children as individuals and as such meet their individual needs, providing wherever possible the most effective resources, environments and courses of learning.

To encourage children wherever possible, to take charge of areas of their own learning, use their own initiative and develop confidence in their own abilities.

To develop self awareness in children, encouraging them to become responsible, caring members of our community and of the wider world.
