A small rural school |         Our aims

Welcome to King Edward School Website

We are a small rural school with close links to the local King Edward area. Most

of the children are from a farming background and several families can trace

their ancestors in the King Edward area through several generations.

The original school dates from 1766, while the main part of the present building was erected in 1811. Recent refurbishments have greatly improved the interior of the building, providing light airy work areas for staff and pupils.

The teaching area consists of three classrooms, linked by a connecting corridor and a portacabin in the playground. The toilet and office facilities are also within the main building, while the canteen and hall are housed separately. The playground comprises of a large tarmac play area and a sports field, surrounded and sheltered by mature trees and hedges.

The school is set close to the main Banff-Turriff road on one side and looks out over rolling farmland on the other. The roadside fence was replaced last year and the gate heightened.

We are privileged to be part of the community of King Edward and actively try to involve friends and neighbours in the community as well as parents in the activities of the school. One of our aims is to make children aware of how they can contribute positively and become full members of the community in their turn.
