Nimbostratus clouds are typically dark gray in colour and associated with
light to moderate precipitation. They are comprised of water droplets
since their bases lie below 6500 feet (2000 metres). When temperatures
are cold enough, nimbostratus may contain ice particles and snow. Because
of falling precipitation, the sun cannot be seen through Nimbostratus.
