Starfish My animal is the Starfish. It is an invertebrate, which means it has no back bone. It has five arms and spiky skin. They are flat and live on the seabed. A Starfish can open the shell of a clam, slip its stomach through a flap of less than 0.5mm and eat the animal inside. Starfish live in shallow water but Brittle stars live on the deep sea floor. Jellyfish Jellyfish are invertebrates. Jellyfish havent got brains. Jellyfish swim gently through the sea. When jellyfish swim, the corals and anemones stay in one place. Jellyfish sting their enemies. Large jellyfish can be up to 6½ feet across. A jellyfish sting can be painful and a few tropical forms are capable of killing humans. Jellyfish catch small animals in a sticky slime that coat its fleshy tentacles. By Neil |

The Tiger Tigers live in jungles not in cages, they should be free and wild stalking through the wet, sleeping jungle. Dark leaves dripping and swishing against her furry skin. Creeping carefully staring sharply, staring sharply. Looking out for prey. Monkeys swinging through the trees. Birds squawking across to each other making weird and wild noises. The tiger lifts her head, gets up immediately roaring and pacing up and down past iron bars. Outside the cage is a jungle of people - staring and gaping at her. By Marsha T. |
Are Zoos Really Necessary? Zoos are places where wild animals are kept and people go to see them. Zoos are used for entertainment. Families, children and schools go on trips to the zoo. Most zoos are expensive to get into, because they have to pay for animal food and vet bills. The animals come from many different countries, like Africa, Australia, USA and Canada. Zoos are good for breeding animals that are getting extinct. The zoo can also look after animals that are weak and sickly. Zoos can provide food for animals even during winter. People can see wild animals that do not live here. Zoos educate children on what they do. Zoos get money by selling videos and books of what animals do and they put adverts on TV, newspapers and books. The money goes to animal charities. The bad things about zoos are they should not put the animals in small places. They should put them in big open places. They should keep the cages clean because they smell bad. Some of the animals can go crazy, they should get a break from people gazing at them. When I was little, one monkey spat yellow stuff at me, if stank dreadful. Animals can catch diseases and viruses and pass it on to other animals because they are too close together. By Marsha |
