Our Allotment

Our allotment is situated at the bottom of our key stage two playground next to the parent/toddler building.  The children volunteer to plant and weed in their playtimes and seem to enjoy every minute.

   All the planting is done.

We have two greenhouses ready for this years tomatoes.

The children who mainly work in the allotment are Donna Leonard, Donna Steele, Danielle Holland, Vicky Sharp, Melanie Milburn, Jessica King and Lauren Cannon.  We also have a parent helper called Mrs. Morton and Mr. Dixon is in charge.
This week we have been planting seed potatoes and we put some of them into pots. We have also planted strawberries, onions, woad and sweet william, my potatoes are growing well.
We use a wheelbarrow, big and little spades and forks and we keep all the equipment in the hut. We only do the allotment on Wednesdays and Fridays mainly at dinner times. We go into the allotment straight after we have eaten our dinner and work there until five too one, when the bell rings.
Danielle Holland has been on the radio and spoke with Mr.Dixon about our allotment. Also Danielle, Donna, Donna, Jessica, Lauren and Melanie have been in the Shields Gazette with pictures of our allotment.
