                                Laygate  football    teams.

Our coach is Mrs. Ward and Darren Grey, a past pupil, comes into school and also helps.  I think this team is the best Laygate has  had  for  a  long  time. Our team  has won League C of South Shields Under 12's Primary Football Association the  first time since 1976.  We have also won the Blanchflower Cup after  beating  Hedworth  Lane  Primary  School on  the  14th of  May at Cheviot.

Our girls team which is also coached by Mrs. Ward and  Mr.  Vinney. Have just won the girls only seven-a-side Diamond Drilling and Cutting Limited Cup. This means that Laygate is celebrating our very own football treble along side Manchester United.   
                         
                                          Newcastle  United           

Laygate  had  a  chance  to  represent  Newcastle  United  at  Wembley. More  than  10  teams  battled  it  out  in  a  football  tournament  in  Gateshead  for  that  chance. Unfortunately,  we  lost  in  the  final  by  1  goal  against  Tanfield  Lea  school. But  for  getting  into  the  final,  all  of  our  team  got  a  pair  of  goalkeeper gloves  and  a  book.
