Facilities
The school is set in
spacious grounds with
views of the Chiltern
Hills. We make every
effort to maintain a
welcoming, attractive
environment to enhance
the quality of the
learning that takes place
here. At Lord Williamss
School the old and
traditional buildings
complement recent
developments to provide a
wide range of excellent
facilities.
Teaching
areas
All teaching now requires
specialist facilities and
resources. The majority
of our rooms are
allocated to particular
faculties and are well
equipped. These include
areas for art, business
studies, careers, dance
and drama, food
technology, information
and communications
technology, languages,
music, physical
education, science,
technology and learning
support.
Libraries
and audio visual aids
The school has three
attractive and well-stocked
libraries. We have
excellent equipment for
making and using video
and audio recordings.
Computer links allow
updating of programmes
relating to news and
current events around the
world. There is a
specialised library of
information on careers
and higher education.
The
Sixth Form
Our Sixth Form centre on
the Oxford Road site has
been extended into the
former boarding house to
provide an excellent
study library, flexible
rooms with open access to
ICT facilities, seminar
rooms, offices, a large
common room, a snack bar
and smaller study and
social areas. There is a
lift to the first floor.
Sports
Halls
We have full daytime use
of the Thame Sports and
Arts Centre and the Lower
School has a first-class
modern Sports Hall. These
excellent facilities are
used for indoor physical
education, for
recreation, for dance and
drama, for assemblies and
for special events such
as plays and concerts.
Other
recreational facilities
There are extensive
playing fields, tennis
and netball courts and
large gyms on both sites,
as well as two squash
courts, a fitness trail
and a fitness suite
available for school use
on the Oxford Road site.
Catering
There are full catering
facilities in all
sections of the school.
Snacks are sold during
the two morning breaks
and the lunch period,
with full cooked meals
and salads available for
lunch. We are fortunate
to have a particularly
loyal catering staff who
work hard to meet the
demands of young and
healthy appetites.
The
Oxford Road buildings are
set in attractive grounds
with very good terraced
playing fields. The
handsome period building,
now known as the
Foundation Centre, has
become the Sixth Form
base. The buildings at
Towersey Road have been
improved and remodelled
and a new sports hall
opened.
