Our day on the newspaper
This is the
Lozells news paper Page
The authors of this page from Year 6 at Lozells
We spent a very busy morning at the University of central
England with Dr Mike Farmer and a man from the Birmingham Post.
He showed us how the paper is put together and challenged us to
write some 'news' of our own. This is what we wrote.
In Lozells School we have started a project called V.I.P's. V.I.P
stands for Very Important Person because they work hard and are
polite. We also have a green garden in our school. It has got a
pond and a bird house. We make it attractive by putting a bench,
a table and pretty flowers in it. we also grow food.
When we go out to visit places we have our own mini-bus. We got
this by raising money through sponsored walks, spellings, selling
conkers and selling badges.
Their is also a school choir. Mrs. Worsley teaches the choir
every Friday morning. We go to other schools and perform there.
We have a netball team run by Miss Robinson. We practice very
Wednesday and after school we will soon have our first LIVE
match.
I like going to lozellls school because there are lots of
diffrent things happening

Green Gang News
The green gang started last year with children from year four who
are now in year five. The children are called the green gang
because they take part in environmental activities. So far the
children have rebuilt a pond which cost around £120 and all the
money came from school fund.In the the pond there are newts, frogs
and snails which were donated by Mrs Stroud our shool caretacker.
The green gang also cleaned up the court yard and put bird
boxesand tables to attract birds. So far we have had sparrows and
bluetits. They also made a vegetble patch and grew some tomatoes
and beans whichare going to be used in our harvest assembly. The
future aims of the green gang are to cut the on the litter at
school by putting some more bins. They also want to attract more
birds and use the gardens for science lessons.

V.I.P's at Lozells
Reported by Shelley Mulcare
On Friday I was a V.I.P (Very Important Person) for the day. I
became a V.I.P. by getting ten golden tickets which I earned by
good manners, improved behaviour and good work.
You get a badge for the day when you are a V.I.P.
As a V.I.P tyou get important jobs to do around the school. You
look after the phones, meet visitors to the school and do office
work. At the end of the day you go to visit Mr. Day at the local
secondary schoolto talk to him about being a V.I.P. As a V.I.P I
showed another V.I.P person around the school, her name was Clare
Short. She is our local member of parliment.
