We have strong links with the local community. This page is about some of the things we have been doing.
These are run by Mrs Allen and take place after school. The majority of the adults who attend these are parents who want to develop their own ICT skills and are very enthusiastic. The courses are run at the school, but funded by the New College, Durham. Everyone who comes enjoys it and they work towards the OCR Clait certificate.

These will be used with younger children in the Nursery and school. These will prove to be a very useful and exciting resource.
The Home/School Group is run by a dedicated team of parents. Most have children at the school, but some have children who have moved onto secondary school.
The group support the school in a variety of ways. Events are organised which, not only raise valuable funds, but also bring members of the community into the school.
Activities include: summer and Christmas fairs, Body Shop parties, Webb Ivory fundraisers and coffee mornings. Their efforts are greatly appreciated by all staff and governors. All their funds are used directly to enhance opportunities available for all children.
We are regularly joined in our assemblies by Mrs Rachel Jones and Joel. They are both members of the church in Durham. Mrs Jones talks to the children and actively involves them in assembly. Joel plays guitar and teaches the children new and interesting songs. Children enjoy their assemblies because they are lively and interesting.
Here are some pictures of our assemblies:

The beautiful wooden plate that was produced for the school by artist David Arnold, following the school's involvement in the Bowes Museum art project has now been returned to school!!!
It had been on display in QCA (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority) headquarters in London.
It has been returned to school this summer. It was seen by more than 5000 people.
Our recent annual goveners meeting for parents was a great success. Apart from the meeting, the evening featured hot Caribbean entertainment from the pupils at our school. This was then followed by a tasty Caribbean style buffet which was prepared by members of the Home School group.
A lot of hard work and effort went into preparing for the evening. But everyone agreed it had been a great sucess.
Here are some photos from the evening.
