In Lydiard Millicent Primary School, Art covers six main areas. Each area is focused on within one half term. The six areas within Art are:

We aim to teach children techniques in using different media, how to use tools and materials, and develop creative, imaginative and practical skills. Art also introduces the children to a variety of cultures showing different styles, and the different ways in which ideas and feeling are presented, alongside developing a critical eye and appreciation for works of art.

In order to achieve this effectively, we have devised a programme of study which highlights key artists or works of art for the children to study. As a result, the observations of the artists style, manipulation of materials and their dealing of specific subject matter will enhance the art work of our children within the six main areas of art.
