DT
Design and Technology offers opportunities for children to develop their designing and making skills whilst developing and applying their knowledge and understanding of:
| planning and developing ideas | |
| working with tools safely and appropriately | |
| materials and the way in which they are used | |
| materials and the way in which they are joined, mixed and combined | |
| mechanisms and control systems | |
| electrical circuits |
A scheme of work is followed to ensure that the children have experience of investigating a range of familiar products, evaluating activities, focused practical tasks and design and make assignments. The children will undertake various assignments such as making:
| moving pictures | |
| vehicles | |
| sandwich snacks | |
| alarms | |
| moving toys | |
| controllable vehicles |
Samples of children’s work is assessed, assigned a National Curriculum level, and kept in each child’s portfolio.
The PTA has purchased many resources to assist with the delivery of the scheme of work.
