MUSIC

The revised curriculum for music involves the four following areas;

  1. controlling sounds – performing skills
  2. creating and developing musical ideas – composing skills
  3. responding and evaluating – appraising skills
  4. listening and applying knowledge and understanding

These aspects are taught through a range of musical activities, in response to different starting points using a variety of organisational methods and ICT and a range of live/recorded music from different times and cultures.

"Music is a powerful, unique form of communication that can change the way pupils feel, think and act."

Termly plans are devised through concepts, eg: rhythm, pitch, and links are made with other curriculum areas as appropriate, ie Literacy, Numeracy, Science, PE.

Children also learn a variety of traditional and modern songs during Songs of Praise sessions.
