HEALTH AND WELFARE

If children are ill or have an accident whilst at school, every effort is made to contact the parents/guardians or the nominated person. Should hospital treatment be necessary and we are unable to contact anyone, children will be taken to hospital by a member of staff. Please ensure that emergency contact numbers are entered on the admissions form and updated when necessary.

All teachers and non-teaching staff have undertaken First Aid training in March 2000.

The School Nurse, Rose Matthews, assists with the coverage of topics such as Healthy Eating, Personal Hygiene and Dental Care and in Year 6 she undertakes a programme on Sex Education and Drug Abuse.

In some cases, she will write a Care Plan between the parents and the school. This is often for pupils who require or might require specified prescribed medication to be administered during the school day either on a regular basis or in the event of an emergency.
