About our School

Most of our children live in terrace houses.

Marlborough Infant School is in Small Heath, Birmingham which is in the Inner city. It was built in 1898 and it will be our centenary in November. The building is mainly single storey with a brick-built annexe and horsa hut. There are nine classrooms each with a sink, a library area, a hall which also serves as a dining room, a small room used by groups, a medical room and the usual staffroom and offices. Space within the building is limited. There is a well-established play group on site, sharing part of the horsa hut, but separate from it.

Each class has it's own computer and some access to a CD-ROM. The school uses the local swimming baths, which are within walking distance, for Year 2 pupils.

The school is a three form entry Infant School admitting up to 90 children each year. There are 270 children in the school aged from 4 to 7 years old. Most of the children are from an Asian background, mainly from Pakistan, though some are from Bengali, Pushto and Kashmiri backgrounds.
