April the 8th 1940 – Air raid shelters having been fitted.

May 14th 1940 – The German attack is developing with increased violence. Queen Wilhelmenia and her Prime Minister and government arrived in London this morning..

May 18th 1940 – 10000 children evacuated to Essex, Kent and Suffolk from London.

May 30th 1940 – Evacuation going through Dunkirk.

June 1st 1940 – We have lost 30000 killed etc 100 guns and all transport and armoured vehicles, we’ve been most fortunate.

July 10th 1940 – Italy is against us.

Aug 30th 1940 – Birmingham bombed mightily and regularly.

Nov 20th 1940 – Birmingham badly bombed last night: Much damage in immediate neighbourhood, including to B.S.A ( Birmingham Small Arms )

Doris Henley, 13, Killed by the Bosch.

Nov 25th 1940 – Badly bombed. Still no water, nor gas in two thirds of the city since Friday.

April 10th 1941 – Bad blitz last night. School in action as a Rest and Feeding Centre.

Lily Nutting, 12, Killed by Bosch.
