Green Lane in 1890 Green Lane around the turn of the 20th Century (1900) Green Lane Mid 20th century. (1940/1950s) As Birmingham grew in size due to it’s role in the Industrial Revolution. The City became an Industrial Centre. It was due to work opportunities that urbanisation began. The City grew, suburbs emerged and the beauty of the green fields and country side disappeared into the City landscape. Much of which we can still see today.
