Curriculum

IT is taught as discrete lessons in years 7 and 10 in these years students have one lesson a week during which time the main aim is to let students acquire and sharpen their skills in the various software packages we have in the school. By the end of year 7 students should be confident, autonomous users of the school network

IT is also taught across the curriculum with faculties having opportunities for using IT embedded into their timetables. To facilitate this each faculty now has its own computer suite with at least 10 workstations.

Certification comes from the NDTEF IT certificates of competence. Currently we are running five certificates in databases, data logging, desktop publishing, spreadsheets and word processing. The aim is to have the majority of students completing the basic level in KS3 and moving on to the distinction level in KS4.

The Internet

We provide access to the Internet for the students to utilise for coursework, homework etc. This resource is available in the library along with other such learning aids as information based CD-ROMs and a school Intranet designed to provide access to useful pages from anywhere in the school.

As you can see we also now have our own web page which we can hopefully use to help people learn more about our school and find interesting sites for learning.
