

Marlborough is a successful and popular grant maintained school, on a beautiful site, surrounded by 27 acres of playing fields and gardens. Formed from the amalgamation of two moderately sized secondary schools, there is ample space. Marlborough is a mixed comprehensive school which provides outstanding resources for its students.
It is enhanced by a Barbara Hepworth statue, "Turning Forms", which is of national importance.
During the last three years, there have been major changes to the use of buildings which have led to the creation of a fully equipped Computer Studies laboratory, a new resources area for Mathematics, a sizeable central library and resources area surrounded by English and Humanities teaching spaces. There is a highly successful unit for children with hearing impairment. Changes in the Art and Craft area have led to a new Technology laboratory and an additional studio for Textiles and Design. There is also a purpose built sixth form block.
As well as extensive playing fields, the school has a gymnasium, two assembly halls and a heated indoor swimming pool. In 1994 the school won a sizeable grant from the Department of Education to remodel and extend the Science area. Currently the governors have major schemes in hand to enhance both the sports and technology facilities.
