We provide all students with a wide range of experiences in physical education enabling them to achieve their potential whilst gaining enjoyment and satisfaction from their performance.
All students throughout their first three years at Marlborough take part in PE weekly (2 hours 15 minutes). During this time boys and girls are taught hockey, gymnastics, dance, swimming, health related fitness, basketball, badmington, volleyball, athletics, rounders, tennis and cricket. In addition girls are taught netball and boys football and rugby.
In year 10 students have one double period a week enabling them to expand their knowledge of the sports listed as well as receiving tasters in other sports. In year 11 they are offered out of school options such as golf, squash, aerobics, weight training and ski-ing.
GCSE PE: Senior students can choose to study GCSE PE. This involves the study of both practical and theoretical elements of physical activities, anatomy and physiology, and sport in society.
'A' LEVEL PE: This new course began in September 1996 with the first examination in June 1998. This course is open to all students regardless of whether they took GCSE PE.
Sport is a key element in the daily life of the school and we have achieved many excellent results over the past year. Several students have been selected for the district in football, cross-country, athletics, with some students becoming district champions. Swimming had a good year, with six trophies being awarded for the best improve teams from the previous season, again several students were selected for the district team.

Extra curricular sport includes inter-schools matches in hockey, netball, soccer basketball, tennis, cricket, rounders, athletics, cross-country runs, and swimming. Clubs are run each week in all team sports as well as gym, dance, fitness and trampolining. We enter district competitions in all sports and some students go on to district and county trials.
Interhouse competition is thriving and provides competition for all students regardless of ability.
