Issue Seven...

What's it all about?

Netherton Now was renamed Netherton and Litherland Now for Issue Seven and hit the streets in April 1998. It was distributed to 16,000 homes and businesses in the Netherton area, as well as to 2,000 addresses in Litherland. This issue was twelve pages in length, with colour front, back and centre pages.

This issue again contained a double-page feature about local primary schools and had single pages sponsored by Safer Merseyside Partnership and Dunningsbridge Partnership. The front page feature was centred around the development of the Switch Island Leisure Park and in particular the building of a brand new 12-screen multiplex cinema by Odeon. This article shared prominence with a story about a massive fire which totally destroyed a warehouse in the area and sparked an aspestos scare.

The centre spread was dedicated to visits reporters made to Anfield and Goodison Park, the homes of Liverpool and Everton Football Club respectively. The reporters from Bootle High and St. Ambrose Barlow received a guided tour of each ground from ex-players - Brian Hall at Liverpool and Dave Hickson at Everton.
