Popular radio presenter Roger Phillips attended the glittering evening and paid tribute to the hard work of each of the award winners and the success already achieved by the Netherton Partnership in regenerating the area.
He said it was obvious the coalition approach, adopted by the Partnership, the community and the associated agencies, was having tremendous effect on Netherton and it would be Netherton residents and businesses reaping the benefits.
He added that there was a new optimism in the air and he was convinced with the continued efforts of all those involved and with the support of local people, Netherton could look forward to the Millennium with real confidence.
Each of the Civic Award winners was presented with an item of crystal glassware in recognition of the part they have played in the on going improvement to the quality of life in the area.
