Children in Crisis was formed in 1993 by the Duchess of York to provide help for children who suffer from hardship, sickness or poverty. It is the belief of Children in Crisis that all children should be treated equally.
There will be an approximate audience of 2000 at the Nynex Arena and 3000 young people from across the North West will sing. The songs that will be sung are "Adeste Fiddles", "When A Child Is Born", "The Holy City", "Jingle Bell Rock", "Love Changes Everything", "O Holy Night", "One Voice Singing In The Darkness", "Silent Night" (in German), "Speed Your Journey", "Walking In The Air", a Beatles medley and a Spirituals medley.
In hymn practice and music lessons we have been learning the songs and have been listening to a tape of people singing the songs we are going to sing at the concert.
Liverpool Live, Channel 18, came to film the St. Oswald’s choir in rehearsal. They sang "Love Changes Everything" and a mix of Beatles songs. The camera crew loved St. Oswald’s and got close-ups of everybody.
Robert Vogel, Gemma Kiernan and Mrs Flodman were interviewed. Mrs Flodman, the music teacher, said: "They are all very good." Robert Vogel said: "I liked the Beatles song." Gemma Kiernan said: "I liked every song." At the end, St. Oswald’s shouted "Happy Birthday, Liverpool Live", then the filming was over.
For the concert we need special sweat shirts, santa hats and candle-shaped torches. We wrote to different firms to ask them for help with the cost and we have already received some replies of money.
