Litherland High pupils went on a visit to Granada Studios in Manchester in December 1997.

The students, who take part in the RSA Initial Award in Media Studies and Leisure and Tourism course, were introduced to the different aspects of broadcast media.

They went on a tour around the sets, make-up rooms and saw how special effects were done. They spoke to camera operators who told them that they sometimes have to walk around for several hours at a time carrying their heavy camera. Some pupils even got the chance to hold a camera to see just how heavy it is.

There was the chance to take walks down Coronation Street and Baker Street and towards the end of the day there was an opportunity to go on some of the rides, though most of the outdoor ones were closed due to bad weather.
