Hi-Tec school is getting ready for the Millenium

Pupils at St Ambrose Barlow will be working at the cutting edge of technology thanks to a major investment in computers at the school.

This significant expansion of the in-school computer system will have a real impact on both teaching and learning with more youngsters able to access a PC for course work, to use CD-ROMs and to surf the Internet as a research tool.

With the network already linked throughout the school, plans are underway for a second dedicated IT room for use by other subjects as part of the National Grid for Learning.

St Ambrose prides itself on being particularly strong on information technology. Its positive policy not to keep outdated equipment ensures pupils are using the most modern resources to prepare them for the workplace. The current ratio of computers to pupils is 5:1 compared to a national average of 8:1.

St Ambrose Barlow has also applied to become part of a special European Network of Innovative Schools Group (ENIS) which will further develop links with organisations across Europe.
