Levi raps to the Netherton beat...

Popular poet, Levi Tafari and the budding poets and authors of the area
performed to packed audiences on National Poetry Day.
Children from the Good Shepherd School joined pupils of St. Ambrose Barlow High School giving
him a rapturous reception during the afternoon session. Parents and the local community filled Bootle
High School's main hall on the evening of the 10th of October to be entertained, amused and moved
by the young performers from Netherton Moss Primary School and Bootle High School.
The performances marked the climax of the Writers in School Celebration Week. Children from thirteen
schools exhibited their creative talents in the two High Schools. They also had the opportunity to be
re-united with the three authors who had inspired their writing during the months of May, June and July:
Adele Geras, Ian Strachan and of course Levi Tafari.
Tony Powell, LEA Inspector commented: "The range and variety of writing on display was clearly
inspired by the professional authors who have shared their enthusiasm and skill with local children"
