Our Lady of Walsingham Infant School is enjoying the publicity of being named one of the best schools in Merseyside. The school rightly feels proud after being commended in Her Majesty's Chief Inspector's annual report.

Stella Smith, headmistress of Our Lady of Walsingham, was delighted by the report and said it was a great honour for the school.

She said: "The report is important because it sums up all of the inspection reports and draws statistics from them. From their findings we were chosen to be among the top nine schools in Merseyside."

The report specifically stated that Our Lady of Walsingham provided good quality education and that it had excellent standards of attainment.

There were just two other schools in Sefton named in the report - a high school in Formby and a Crosby primary school. Stella was proud that her school was the only one in Bootle to be named in the report.

"The inspectors were impressed by the friendly atmosphere in the school and the way the children knew what they were doing," said Stella. "They were also impressed by the depth of the teachers planning and how all of the subjects were linked together."

The parents, governors and staff of the school were all delighted by the report, which is the highest accolade the school has received, apart from the approval of the parents.
