Netherton and Litherland NOW! - New road signs

WE'RE ON THE MAP!

NETHERTON is now well and truly on the map. With 10 new roads signs being situated at key directional points, drivers can no longer have any excuse to simply by-pass the area.

Gill Hart, the Netherton Partnership’s Marketing Manager, explained that the new signs were necessary because Netherton was in danger of becoming a forgotten town. Many local businesses have chosen to list their address as Aintree because there were no signs pointing the way to Netherton.

But now the Netherton Business Group, with help from an SRB Economic Infrastructure grant, has paid £30,000 to put up the brand new road signs and get the name of Netherton better known to people outside the area.

Gill Hart says: "One of the main roles of the Netherton Partnership is to revitalise the area through economic investment such as helping new businesses to locate here or existing businesses to expand. Signposting the area will also make it easy to find for potential developers and others who are looking to do business with companies based here.

"Some visitors drive round and round without knowing where they are or in which direction they should be going."

The signs are situated at key points such as Dunningsbridge Road to point the way to Netherton for visitors. It is quite a complicated process as the Highways Agency is involved and whole new signs have to be made. Just adding the name of Netherton added to the old ones would be "totally inappropriate," according to Gill Hart.

"Netherton deserves better and should take its rightful place in Merseyside," she says.
