The biggest film of all time is here... James Cameron's "Titanic" hit
British cinemas on January 23rd and continues to pull in sell-out audiences at many
showings. The film has at present grossed more than $500 million and has just over-taken "E.T." and "Star Wars" to become the most successful movie of all time.
The makers of "Titanic" promised the most outstanding use of visual effects to date and audiences are drawn to cinema seats by preview clips of the ship sinking and snapping in half.
Once the people are there, however, they are also treated to an excellent and highly believable love story and adventure. A cast of bright young stars, including Kate Winslet, Leonardo Di Caprio and Billy Zane, captivates the audience.
The story surrounds English beauty Kate Winslet as Rose, a 17 year-old aristocrat who is to marry millionaire, Cal Hockley (Billy Zane). The marriage was arranged by her mother to save their family name from financial shame as they are secretly deeply in debt.
Rose no longer loves Cal and whilst in a fit of despair, runs into a scruffy young artist from the third-class decks, Jack, played by Leo Di Caprio, whose free spirit and happiness appeal to Rose.
The two soon fall deeply in love and spend the happiest four days of their lives together until that famous iceberg makes a cameo appearance and ruins everything!
Rose is guaranteed a boat ride to safety as a first-class lady but Jack must stay and go down with the ship as a "steerage" nobody. Will she stay with her new found love in the hope of survival or jump ship with her posh pals? You’ll have to watch it and see...
"Titanic" is truly all that it promises to be - a fast-paced story of intrigue onboard the most famous vessel ever to sail the seas. Add all of this to the dazzling special effects and the three hour 17 minute blockbuster seems to last no more than an hour!
