Top marks for school

St Ambrose Barlow RC High School was inspected by OFSTED in May 1998. The inspection lasted two weeks.

The inspectors looked at all aspects of the school curriculum including teaching, spiritual and moral development and management. The final report showed that St Ambrose Barlow is an improving school, providing a caring and supporting environment where individual achievement is celebrated and promoted.

Strengths of the school were shown to be good quality teaching, pupils respect for each other's values and beliefs and strong community links. The excellent contribution that the chaplaincy makes to the spiritual and moral life of the school was highlighted.

We asked Mr Andy Traynor, head teacher at St Ambrose Barlow, what he thought of the OFSTED report and he replied: "I am very proud of this excellent report. Pupils and staff get the recognition they deserve!"
