Familiar face checks in as school's new Head
by Tracy Helm & Margie Cramsie

St. Ambrose Barlow appointed its new Headteacher in April.
However, it will be very much "business as usual" as Andy Traynor,
who has served as Acting Head for the last two terms, has been
handed the job on a permanent basis.

Mr Traynor has been at St. Ambrose Barlow High School for 18 years,
though the school has only had that name since September 1982 when
the old St. Catherine's High School for Girls amalgamated with St.
Thomas Aquinas. At that time, Mr Traynor was Head of R.E. He has since
been Head of Year 9 and Deputy Headteacher in charge of curriculum.
In his spare time, Mr Traynor enjoys rebuilding classic cars,
gardening, visiting auctions and repairing antiques. He is also a
Justice of the Peace, which means he is a local magistrate in South
Sefton. He is obliged to attend court for three half days each
month.
Mr Traynor has said that he will listen to the School Council for any
new ideas regarding the school's development!
