It may surprise some people to learn that there is a worrying incidence of crime perpetrated by women aged between 13 and 25. Venus hopes that through support, training, education and art and activity programmes, this problem may be alleviated.
They hope to give young women the self-esteem and confidence to become active in a positive way within their communities, therefore making them less likely to engage in offending behaviour.
There are many ways in which Venus provides help and support in this issue, including training up volunteers to carry out outreach work and helping parents of young women to set up support groups. For more information, contact Juliet Edgar or Lorraine Webb on (0151) 922 4186 or (0151) 944 1663.
