The centre of Northampton resounded to the voices of Mereway Middle School students this week, as their messages of Joy to the World rang out from All Saint's Church on Tuesday evening.

Parents, staff and students joined together to celebrate the commencement of the Christmas festivities with a selection of Carols, readings and music from around the world.

Steel Bands at the Grosvenor Centre

On Monday 9th December the Year 6 and 7 Steel Bands set up their instruments in the main hall of the Grosvenor Centre, outside Littlewoods. The children were brilliant! Those not playing organised a collection for Dr. Barnado's. In the space of an hour a total of £270 was raised. The staff at Boots were so impressed that they gave the children two jars of Quality Street. (They obviously made 'sweet music'!) Members of the public also telephoned the school with congratulations and plaudits.

Well done to all involved; many thanks to the Centre staff, and Peter & Kevin for their hard work.

A Victorian Christmas

On a cold and frosty December morning, Year 5 set off for a festival of Carol Singing - Victorian style - at the Grosvenor Centre.

Bringing a close to this half-term's studies, students were able to re-enact this very Victorian custom complete with typical carols, costumes and lanterns.
