-To provide a range of extension material that will enrich curriculum planning.
-To incorporate intellectual challenge through the quality rather than the quantity of work.

encourage and motivate more able children.
ACTION PLAN.
-Check planning ensuring that a range of suitably differentiated activities for more able children exist.( if not , put these into place within existing planning.)
-Regular meetings with each year groups named person for overseeing the more able.
-Regular informal meeting sessions ( Heather Scott could help with this.)--
-Develop a wide range of resources which will be easily accessible to the more able children.( e.g. challenge centre / I.T. suite / Internet )
-Improve communication and liaison with the parents of the more able children.
-Exploit resources of the wider community e.g. volunteer adults , museums etc.
-Contact N.A.G.C. (National Association for Gifted Children ),
based at Nene College, (mainly aimed at parents).
GENERAL SCHOOL ISSUES.
-The quality of the environment is extremely important.
-The expectation of high standards of work needs to exist if all children are to achieve their full potential.
-Marking should be formative and developmental, giving the child pointers for further development.
-Enrichment activity programmes and challenges frequently stimulate and stretch the more able in a non threatening way ( mix of age ranges and student mentors - could

-Regular celebration of achievements (assemblies / newsletters).
HOW CAN IT BE ORGANISED ?
-Named member of staff allocated to each year group.
-Group to meet regularly for input, evaluation sessions etc.
-Use of parent volunteers.
-Team teaching / teaching mentors with another teacher.
-Students teaching / mentoring other students from same / different class.
-Match child to a member of staff with special interest.
-Joint MMS and MUS clubs / extra curricular activity programmes.
-Individual research programmes / M.A.P. programmes.
-Entering competitions / challenges - local and national.
