Using the Music Database

The Music Database has been set up so that all of the recorded and printed music in school is in one central index.

It will be useful for:

organising assemblies

planning arts based topics

teaching listening skills - AT2

preparing repertoire to sing or play

resourcing

It will be useful to anyone who does any of these tasks.

The Database is organised under eight different headings.

Seven of them are specific:

Cover Title

Simply, the main title of the item.

Composer

This also includes arrangers

Instrument

This lists the main groups of instruments involved eg. orchestra, guitar...

The main library number

Topic

Three ways:

Musical Period: Medieval, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Nationalist, 20th Century,

Style of Music: Show Music, Pop, Swing
