Information Technology Policy Statement

We believe................

It is vital that students learn about the role of Information Technology (IT) in the wider world and its implications for their future. They need to become critical and autonomous users of IT. This is in line with the schools stated mission.

Information Technology has value in terms of:

motivation

presentation

questioning skills

problem solving

information handling

techniques of modelling

With a grounding in Information Technology students will be advantaged in their ability to take part in the rest of the school curriculum and the wider world.

Our aims are....

To achieve these aims Mereway Middle School will.....

1 Provide all students with the maximum possible access to computers and computer related technology ( maintaining or even improving the current student/computer ratio of 5 to 1).

2 Provide a curriculum that enable students to acquire specific IT skills and also uses IT to enrich understanding and knowledge in other parts of the curriculum.

This policy is applicable to Mereway Middle School and was produced by Allen Andres.
