Both these items are available from Collins Sports of Gold Street, Northampton.
If you are in receipt of Income Support or Family Credit you may be entitled to help with purchasing school uniform, please ask at the school office for an application form.
INDOOR SHOES
To preserve our environment we encourage all pupils
to have a change of shoes to wear in school. These can be white
plimsols or any type of soft shoe provided they are only worn
indoors.
JEWELLERY and ITEMS OF VALUE
Unfortunately we can not take responsibility for any jewellery brought to school and therefore jewellery should be kept to a minimum. Earrings should preferably be studs. All jewellery should be removed for Physical Activities.
Pupils should avoid bringing items of value to school and must be responsible for them if they do. Money should be kept on them, a wallet or purse they can wear is ideal for this.
Lunch boxes and cycle helmets should be stored in the class stock cupboard not the cloakroom.
All pupils will take part in Physical Education lessons each week. These are timetabled so that pupils will know when they need to bring P.E. Kit. Following an outdoor games session pupils are required to have a shower therefore a towel and shower kit will be needed on that day. If your child is unable to take part in a P.E. lesson a note must be sent to the class teacher giving a reason.

USE OF MEREWAY CAR PARKS WHEN BRINGING
AND COLLECTING PUPILS BY CAR.
When bringing or collecting pupils by
car, parents are requested to use the car park provided by the
upper school for this purpose. On entering the site from the dual
carriage way drive straight on for about 75 yards and there is
a car park on the left hand side. If everyone tries to use the
Middle school or the main Upper school car park there is a greater
risk of an accident. THIS REQUEST IS MADE WITH THE SAFETY OF
ALL THE CHILDREN IN MIND.

ABSENCES and LATENESS
Most pupils have to have some time away
from school whether it be due to illness, doctors appointment
or some other reason. If your child is unable to come to school,
it is helpful if we can be informed by telephone as soon as possible.
All absences have to be explained in writing in order for us to
authorise them on the computerised attendance system. Therefore
a note to their class teacher when they return is essential.
If it is necessary for you to take a
holiday during school time a 'leave of absence form' should be
obtained from the front office and completed prior to the holiday
taking place.
Any pupil arriving at school after registration should go to the
Library where the Attendance Manager will mark them in.
MEDICATION
Pupils are only allowed to take
medication that has been prescribed by a G.P. while they are in
school. The medication should be in the container it was dispensed
in (showing their name and the date it was prescribed). There
must also be a note from a parent/guardian stating the dosage
and times when it needs to be taken. All medication must be handed
into the front office. We are not allowed to let pupils take
unprescribed medication e.g. paracetamol. Pupils who need
to use an inhaler may keep one with them if a covering note from
a parent/guardian is provided; alternatively they can hand them
into the front office for safe keeping.
USEFUL EQUIPMENT
All pupils are provided with exercise books and any
text books they may need. It is appreciated if pupils can bring
their own pen, pencils ruler, rubber and colouring pencils. Pens
should contain black ink, PLEASE NOTE - BIROS ARE NOT USED IN
SCHOOL. Berol handwriting pens are the most suitable and the first
pen is provided to year 5 pupils. Subsequent pens can be brought
from the school shop.
THE SCHOOL SHOP IS OPEN DURING FRIDAY BREAKTIME IN THE YEAR 5 AREA.
LUNCHTIME ARRANGEMENTS
If you wish your child to go home for
lunch, we require a letter, so that we can account for them during
the lunchtime period.
We have the exclusive use of the canteen at Mereway Upper School
between 11.45 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. Pupils may bring a packed lunch
or choose something to eat from the self service cafeteria. If
your child is entitled to a free school meal they can choose a
meal to the value of £1.16. The cashiers will know who has
an entitlement.
