Policy on Policies

EACH POLICY WILL CONSIST OF SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING THREE PARTS.

1. 'Policy Statement', 'Policy Details' and Appendix

2. 'Policy Statement' to fit on one side of A4

3. 'Policy Statement' to include

• Precise title
• Paragraph of description of the policy
• Reference to the School's Mission Statement
• To whom the policy is applicable
• Who the policy is on behalf of and who was directly involved in its creation
• Date of acceptance
• Reference to the 'Policy Details' and Appendix
• Notes about process for policy changes - needs to be an agreed process
  

4. 'Policy Details' to include information for staff about the implementation of the policy - moving the policy into practice.

5. Appendix to include:

• Further Guidance
• Relevant Materials and Handouts
• References

The appendix does not form part of the policy, but contains useful supplementary material.
