OUR RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
AT MEREWAY MIDDLE SCHOOL
ENCOURAGING POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR
We all share the responsibility to promote and protect the
following rights of all individuals in school:-
· To be treated with respect
and feel safe and secure within the school
· To be listened to and supported
· To treat others as we would
expect to be treated ourselves
· To be treated politely
· To achieve success academically,
personally and socially
· To feel a valued and important
member of the school community
· To work in a pleasant and stimulating
environment
We must all take seriously the rights and responsibilities
of ourselves and others.
Therefore we will:-
Praise each other when it is deserved
Show consideration and understanding
Remember that bullying or hitting
out are never acceptable - these are not ways to solve problems
No name calling or use racist or
sexist language
Welcome people
Take issues which are reported seriously
Give time
Make sure action is taken
Be friendly and courteous
Treat people equally
Move around safely and sensibly, without pushing or disturbing
others
Say please, thank - you and sorry
Ask rather than demand
Not shout or interrupt
Help and open doors for others
Value and encourage each other
Celebrate everyone's success
Produce work we can be proud of and not stop others from working
successfully
Maintain a good working environment
Set and complete appropriate activities
Be trusted and be given responsibility
Represent our school and look out for one another
Behave in a responsible manner
Before leaving the classroom or premises consult an adult
Avoid letting ourselves or others down
Face up to mistakes
Congratulate each other
Delight in and be proud of the high quality environment we
all contribute to.
Not to take or damage the school's or other people's property

in this way that we can begin to understand why decisions are
made and action is taken

verses - everyone's an individual - a difficult balance.

We are involved in developing self discipline
and a clear sense of purpose and of what is expected.
Positive relationships are the basis
of all that goes on in school.

relationships.
Where appropriate we consider pupils
views of an effective organisation.
Sanctions will vary according to
what has occurred and the individual child involved.
