All students at Mereway Middle School have a Record of Achievement
folder which they begin in Year 5. The folder is cross-curricular
and is built up over the four years (see RoA document).
It is the aim for 1996-1997 to increase the MFL content of the
students RoA folder. This will celebrate a student's achievements
and help promote a sense of pride in progress in the language
as well as increasing self-awareness of strengths and weaknesses
and ways of improving.
Over Years 7 and 8 the following will be added to the RoA folder:-
Progress sheets for each unit setting out the areas to be covered
A progress sheet showing NC levels which will be used for reference
and self-assessment
A plastic wallet to hold special pieces of work and certificates
A reading record card
A Modern Languages Evaluation Sheet
Self-assessment sheets looking at Approach to Work
*** It is hoped to add Listening Record Sheets and Speaking
Record Sheets in 1997-1998
Self-assessment and critical partnering are considered vital to
the development of autonomous language learners. They help to:-
increase understanding and awareness of what is expected and required
focus attention on different aspects and skills
increase motivation
enable students to monitor their own progress and identify strengths
and weaknesses
give students control over their own learning
