Role Description for Teacher Tutors - working in

partnership with Nene College. 

Defining the role.

Teacher Tutors work within Key Stage Two. Each class teacher working within the partnership will be the Teacher Tutor for the student(s) placed in his/her class at any particular time.


Expectations

Attaching to the role of Teacher Tutor are the following responsibilities:
  1. Provide the student(s) with support and guidance. 
2. Ensure that the student(s) have the opportunity to observe the class teacher in a range of contexts. This is particularly important in the first term and during preparation and the early stages of each block of School Experience.

3. Oversee, advise and comment on the student's planning,
evaluation and other documentation required by the course.

4. Observe the student(s) teaching in a variety of contexts 
and provide oral and written feedback with regard to the competencies in teaching.

5. Provide the student(s) with opportunities to use and discuss 
a  range of teaching styles suitable for achieving competence in teaching.

 A formal period of tutorial time should be set aside to achieve the above. This should be approximately 30 minutes and take place once a week. Informal discussion needs to take place more frequently and often on a daily basis to ensure daily work in the classroom is appropriate and to offer support and guidance.

6. Provide opportunities for the student's to teach the designated range of National Curriculum subjects and RE as appropriate to the phase of the course. In the first term  of the course the focus for all students will be core subjects but work will be required in other areas of the curriculum and these will depend on the timetable negotiated with each student.

7.Organise the curriculum flexibly to enable the student to meet course demands.

8. Help the student to become fully involved in the life of the
 school.

9. Provide the student(s) with the School Year Book and a copy of the Handbook. Access should be given to other documentation.
