MODERN LANGUAGES HOMEWORK
POLICY
- All classes in years 7 and 8 are
given homework for 30/40 minutes per week
- The amount and nature of the work
varies according to the age of the group
- The time required to complete a
homework is no more than that recommended by the whole school
policy
- A variety of tasks and activities
are set, although learning is the significant proportion in the
early stages. Other activities include: worksheets, charts/graphs
to show the results of classwork, illustrating/decorating work,
practising/devising a conversation, writing about self/family,
creative writing
- As learning by heart is such an
important aspect of homework, its importance in successful language
learning is discussed with students and appropriate techniques
are suggested - e.g. Look, Say, Cover, Write, Check
- Homework is a valued aspect of the
subject area, it is expected in on time and marked promptly. Students
who do not complete homework on time are expected to complete
work at break or lunchtime.
- Students are encouraged to note
homework in their Homework Logs or in the back of their exercise
book
