All students at Mereway Middle School have an entitlement to use IT to support and enhance their learning of a modern foreign language.

The development and integration of IT into the MFL schemes of work is an ongoing and evolving process.

Students use IT for a variety of purposes with a particular focus in the following units:

Unit I - Use of a spreadsheet to show results of a birthday survey

Unit 3 - Word processing a caf6 conversation script for distribution to all members of the cast (involves drafting and editing)

Unit 5 - Use of the Internet and e-mail to find out about daily routines in other countries

Unit 7 - DTP package for production of Diary

Unit 9 - DTP package for production of Brochure about Northampton

Unit 12- Production of school newspaper using any JT resource

At all times students, particularly those with Special Needs, are encouraged to use CD roms and Talking First Word for Windows to support their learning.

Students also use IT on a daily basis in the classroom for various tasks.

The use of databases is limited by lack of access to the network linked to time constraints. When this situation changes the use of a database will be integrated into the schemes of work
