Language learning is not just about
the acquisition of vocabulary and grammar. It is fundamentally
about learning to communicate, and particularly about learning
to communicate with those who speak the target language. It also
involves raising awareness of the target language countries, people
and cultures.
The best possible way to do this is
to visit a country where the language is spoken. This puts the
language in a meaningful context gives a reality to everyday class
work and raises motivation.
Mereway Middle School aims
to offer students the opportunity to visit a French speaking country
with the school.
In Year 7: Day
trip to Boulogne - This trip
will make its Maiden Voyage in July1997
In Year 8: Five day Study Visit to France - In 1995 and 1996, visits were to
Le Touquet with PGL. In 1997, the visit
will be to MervilleFranceville with Schools into Europe.
We aim to offer the students a cross-curricular
experience, not only a language learning experience.
During, and prior to, Study Visits all
aspects of school policies on Trips and Visits and Health and
Safety will be followed.
