c) WHAT TO WEAR

WELLINGTONS

The children and adults should arrive at the farm wearing their wellingtons.  This will save time at the beginning of the session.

Shoes should be brought in a plastic carrier bag to change into ready to return to school.

The dirty wellingtons can then be put into the plastic carrier bag to take back to school.

This procedure will ensure that the coach is kept free from mud.

The farm keeps a small stock of wellingtons (only a few of each size) for the children who do not have their own.

To save time, on arrival the teacher should have a list of the sizes that the children require.

CLOTHES

As most of the time will be spent outside there is a likely hood of getting clothes dirty.

It is therefore advisable for the children to wear old clothes or clothes they don't mind getting slightly dirty.

School uniform or best clothes are not advisable.

In case of cold weather conditions it is advisable to wear warm clothing e.g.

  • an extra jumper
  • an extra pair of socks
  • a pair of gloves
  • a woolly hat
A waterproof outer coat is provided.

d) TRANSPORT

The cost of providing the return journey to Money Lane School Farm is no longer met by the LEA. However the LEA has been able to secure a contract with a coach company who provide seat belted transport to and from Money Lane at a very competitive rate.

The majority of schools using Money Lane use the contracted service, but schools are free to order their own transport.  Please refer to the Environmental and Outdoor Education service booking arrangement booklet for up to date prices.

When your booking has been confirmed transport will be ordered through the LEA unless the school cancels in writing.  Failure to cancel in writing will result in the school being charged.

Please note that if transport via the contract is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice there is a penalty - 90% of the contracted price.  For cancellations of more than 24 hours there is no charge.

For morning visit the class should be ready to leave the school at 9.30 am arriving at the farm at approximately 10.00 am.  The class will leave the farm at the end of the visit at 12.00 noon.

For the afternoon visit the class should be ready to leave the school at 12.45 pm arriving at the farm at approximately
1.15 pm.  The class will leave the farm at the end of the visit at
3.15 pm.
