h) CAMERAS

Photographs are a wonderful reminder of the visit and they can jog memories of what took place and what was seen.

Photographs can enhance the farm visit display in the classroom..

Cameras are available at the farm to borrow for the duration of the visit if for some reason you don't bring your own.

Cameras are available at no cost to the school.

Films can be purchased from the farm (24 exposures) at a
cost of £2.00.

You can bring your own film and borrow the camera (35mm
film is required).

i) VISIT ITINERARY

The itinerary for the morning and afternoon visits are the same.  A typical visit is as follows:-

a) Arrive at the farm

b) In the classroom to first sort out wellingtons and waterproof jackets.

c) Brief exchange of question and answers to ascertain the children's knowledge of the farm and the farm animals.

d) Brief talk by Head of Centre of the safety aspects around the farm.

e) Outside to view the animals.

  1. Observe the cows in the field
  2. Observe young calves in the shed
  3. Observe, feed and stroke sheep
  4. Observe the pigs
  5. Observe and feed the hens
  6. Collect the eggs
  7. Observe, feed and hold the bantams
  8. Observe, stroke and hold ducks
f) Short walk across field and then down a leafy lane.

g) Back into classroom, take off dirty wellingtons, put clean shoes on, put dirty wellingtons into plastic bag.

h) Toilet, wash hands.

i) Drink.

j) Onto coach and back to school.

j) REFRESHMENTS

At the end of each visit morning and afternoon the children are provided with a drink of orange squash

The teachers and assistants can have tea or coffee for a small charge.
