The school cottage in South Wales is used very extensively by a range of students. All Year 8 students have the opportunity to visit the cottage as part of their Pastoral and Social Education programmes. The visits are always eagerly looked forward to and enjoyed, many students requesting further visits throughout their school career. It provides us with extremely valuable opportunities which are not available to most other schools.
Voluntary work by many teachers during their weekends has improved the accomodation which is simple rather than luxurious.
It is situated near Gilwern and Brynmawr high above the Usk Valley and has
magnificent vbiews. The area is rich in industrial history and boasts many
fine walks.
The school cottage is also used by Sixth Form groups for residential group
building activities as well as social weekend visits with members of staff.
