Ethos Statement

In our diverse community, we promote the cultural heritage of our pupils to enable them to have self-esteem and confidence in their ability to reach high standards.

We build on children's experiences and use their families, knowledge and skills so they can communicate their views effectively and positively and be self confined, rational, questioning and successful citizens.

Children and adults are expected to show respect and regard for each other in school and to respect each other's space and work, leisure time, tools and property.

The ethos is promoted from the curriculum, individual and group discussions, talks, assemblies and role play.

Equal Opportunities

We follow closely the Authority's guidelines on equal opportunities. All children whatever their sex or cultural background are given the opportunity to play a full part in all activities. They have access to the same broadly based and balanced learning opportunities they will need to succeed in our fast changing world. Steps are taken to prevent unequal treatment or discrimination based on sex, race or religion and to tackle this should it arise.

The School

Mostyn Gardens is a culturally and racially mixed County Primary School in the London Borough of Lambeth educating pupils in the 3 to 11 age range. The school is off Brixton Road, surrounded by the Cowley and Myatts Fields Estates. It is not far from the centre of Brixton with its market and shops.

The Children

Mostyn Gardens Primary school admits children from Nursery age at three until they transfer to secondary school at eleven. The classes are arranged for children from a mixed ability range.
