Megs Day.

Meg was 14 years old and she would get 20p a week from her employers, just enough to send home to feed her family.

At 4.30 am Meg would get up to clean the door steps and letter box every morning.

At 6.30 am All the fires in the house must be made and the ashes from the day befor had to be cleaned up.

At 7.30 am Meg has to carry heavey buckets of hot water upstairs from the kitchen, so that the family can wash before breakfast.

8.30 am Meg makes the beds there are 10 to do and no one to help her.

After breakfast Meg helps to was the dishes and prepare for the lunches.

At 12.30 pm Meg and the other servnts eat their lunch together in the Kitchen.

At 3.00 pm Meg has to clean all the silver - knives, forks salt & pepper pots. Its the frist time that she has sat down since lunch!

4.00 pm Meg finishes the washing up after tea and begins to help the cook with the evening meal.

9.00 pm Meg washes up the evening dinner things, and has a small meal.
